Your Overseas Destination is Now Much Cheaper
We all know that the credit crunch is currently in full swing and although the travel industry was set to be hit, it was not meant to be hit this bad. Holiday accommodation abroad has been majorly slashed in an attempt to get British tourists revisiting foreign destinations. 2009 has seen a large increase in family holidays, simply because a lot of people are fearing going abroad because of the falling power in the pound.
In my opinion this is probably what has led to the crash in the UK in the first place, thousands of British people used to go abroad every year and spend their savings in overseas destinations, effectively pushing up their economy whilst the British economy kept on suffering until it crashed. But right now foreign countries are beginning to panic, because there is a huge shortage in travellers.
We could in fact see thousands of more travel firms go bust as they fail to shift package tours which has already seen a 11% reduction in the last 12 months and is also putting fear into people travelling abroad amid fears that they could be stranded overseas.
Although the peak summer season prices have not yet dropped as travel agencies are remaining hopeful, I have a funny feeling that in a few months we will see them fall dramatically.What overseas places are trying to do is re launch theie economy, by offering near to nothing free accommodation they are hoping that people will spend their money in the cities in restaurants and such. But the whole world is going to experience the full wrath of the credit crunch. Finally the countries that will come out most successful will be the ones which have the governments that take the lead and control.
